Dear Northampton County Public Schools families and employees;

On Friday, PowerSchool, an international provider of education administration software, announced that it had suffered a cybersecurity incident in late December. Although the security of PowerSchool’s systems has been restored, data pertaining to students and educators at hundreds of school systems around the country were subjected to unauthorized access. The breach was limited to PowerSchool’s internal systems, and the security of individual school system networks was not disturbed.

Northampton County Public Schools utilizes PowerSchool software. NCPS has asked PowerSchool to identify the scope of the impact on information pertaining to members of our community, if any. PowerSchool has assured us that they are conducting a thorough investigation to understand the full extent of the breach. NCPS will keep you updated on any developments as we work closely with PowerSchool to ensure the security of our data.

Northampton County Public Schools takes the privacy of our students’ and employees’ personal information very seriously.  PowerSchool has advised NCPS that they will directly notify any impacted individuals with details of the information pertaining to him or her that was affected.  At this time, Northampton County Public Schools has not been provided with details on what information was exposed for specific individuals.
