ShoreBots

This weekend, the ShoreBots—Northampton High School’s FRC Team 1908—traveled to Alexandria, Virginia, for their second FIRST Chesapeake District qualifying event, and their performance was nothing short of impressive!

After finishing the Qualification round ranked 20th out of 38 teams with a 6-6 record, the ShoreBots were the first pick of Alliance 7. Competing alongside teams 1885 and 611 (the alliance captain), they made an incredible run in the Semi-Final round, taking down the 3rd and 1st seed alliances as underdogs. Their strong performance earned them a 5th place finish overall.

With their combined success from the Portsmouth and Alexandria qualifiers, the ShoreBots have accumulated 66 District Points, officially securing their place at the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship on April 3-6, 2025, in Upper Marlboro, MD! Currently ranked 36th out of 112 teams, they continue to prove that size doesn’t define strength—competing against much larger schools across Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

This year is especially significant as the ShoreBots celebrate 20 seasons in FIRST Robotics, a legacy that began in 2006 thanks to founders Rodney Walker and Jim Goldstine. Their success is made possible by the dedication of their team members, coaches, and the generous support of their sponsors: NASA Wallops Flight Facility, Northampton County Public Schools, Rommel’s Ace Hardware (Exmore), Gene Haas Foundation, Northampton County, and Eastern Shore Signs and Apparel.

We are incredibly proud of the ShoreBots and their achievements. They may be small, but they are mighty!
