Curiosity and creativity were on full display as students across Northampton County Public Schools put their scientific minds to the test in recent Science Fairs at Kiptopeke Elementary School (KES), Occohannock Elementary School (OES), and Northampton Middle School (NMS). These events celebrated student inquiry, problem-solving, and discovery, showcasing projects that tackled everything from engineering challenges to environmental science.
Kiptopeke Elementary School Science Fair
At KES, students from 3rd to 6th grade worked diligently to present their projects, impressing both judges and spectators. The top finishers in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades earned the opportunity to compete at the Regional Science Fair on April 5th at the VIMS Eastern Shore Lab in Wachapreague, VA. Congratulations to all participants, and special recognition to the winners! These students, along with their fellow top finishers, will proudly represent KES at the regional competition.
Northampton Middle School Brings Back the Science Fair
For the first time in many years, Northampton Middle School revived its Science Fair, setting the stage for what will now become an annual event. On April 1st, 55 students in 7th and 8th grade showcased their projects to a panel of judges, making the competition so tight that a second round of review was needed to determine the winners. Five individuals and teams were selected to move on to the Eastern Shore Regional Science Fair, where they will compete among the best young scientists in the region. This revival marks an exciting step for NMS, reaffirming Northampton Middle School’s commitment to hands-on learning and academic excellence.
Occohannock Elementary School Science Fair
At OES, students eagerly participated in their school-wide Science Fair, with all projects counting as part of their science coursework. Forty students from grades 3-6 moved on to the OES Science Fair, where the top five from each grade level (3rd-5th) and the top five 6th graders earned a spot at the Regional Science Fair (VIMS Eastern Shore Lab). Their hard work and dedication is paying off as they prepare to represent their school on a larger stage.
A Celebration of Learning
Across all three schools, the Science Fairs were more than just competitions—they were a celebration of exploration, innovation, and academic passion. Northampton County Public Schools is incredibly proud of all the students who participated and demonstrated their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Best of luck to those advancing to the Regional Science Fair—our future scientists, engineers, and innovators are already making their mark!
